2 months |
She had her two month wellness check on Tuesday morning and weighed 12 pounds 8 ounces and was 22 inches long. I really think she's longer than that, because the top of her head was really pushing against the thing they used to measure her.

Waiting for the nurses to come in with the shots... |
So serious |
Happy girl! (even after she had shots that morning!) |
Big sister likes her headbands! |
She's been really fussy for the last month and a half. There have been days where I have to just put her in the swing and let her cry. I think there were a few days where she cried for 3-4 hours (with a few 5 minute cat naps) straight. One day I told Ainsley to grab her shoes because we were going bye-bye. I couldn't take it anymore and decided to put Lily in the car and drive around. She did end up falling asleep using the car trick about 45 minutes into the ride, so this relieved Mommy kept driving for another 45 minutes so I could have some silence (Ainsley ended up falling asleep before Lily that day)!
Lily usually cries because she's either gassy or trying to poop, and that's kept us up a few nights. Luckily, she's getting better in that department. I give her an ounce of juice with an ounce of water every day so I assume that's helping.
She has started to spit up more and she's been congested. The congestion will go away, but not completely, for a few days before coming back. This week has been especially bad and it's almost to the point where it's hard for her to breath out of her nose. I try using the saline spray and nose sucker, but nothing comes out. The doctor said all of Lily's symptoms (including congestion with no snot) are signs of acid reflux, so we've started our first medication for her. She's on Zantac twice a day. She does not like the way it tastes and will spit it all back out, so I mixed it with an ounce of formula this morning. She took it pretty good, so that may be the way we give it to her going forward. Ainsley had issues with acid reflux also, but hers were much worse than Lily's and the Zantac didn't work for Ainsley, so she was on Prevacid.
The sleeping department could use some improvement, but isn't terrible I suppose. She's actually getting better at night, but we can't wait until she's sleeping all night! She usually falls asleep between 9-11, but it's been getting closer to 9-10 each night. I've actually had to lay her down in her crib, on her back, the past few nights after she takes her bottle while she's still awake. She doesn't want to be held, so I'll lay her on her back in her crib and she'll fuss for a while (no crying, just fussing which is nice) and then eventually fall asleep on her own. We've been putting her on her belly to sleep since we moved her into her crib, which has been a month or so. She seems to sleep better on her belly, so that's what we do! She'll get up between 1-3 for a bottle and then usually falls right back to sleep and we can put her on her belly then until 5-6 when she wakes up again. She's actually been falling right back asleep most mornings after she eats at 5-6 and sleeps a few more hours before getting up for the day and staying awake for an hour or so!
She's taking 3-6 ounces at a time. We usually make bottles with either 4 or 6 ounces in them depending on when she ate last, and whether it's right before bed. There are times when she'll take the whole 4 ounce bottle and would probably take more, but there are other times when she only takes 3 ounces.
We're getting more smiles out of her every day, and a few coos. Here's a video from a few weeks ago of Lily cooing. She's happiest after her bath or first thing in the morning. If Ainsley sees or hears me talking to Lily, she has to run over and talk to her also. She'll walk up to where she's right in front of Lily's face and crouch down to look at her and then say "hi" and wave to her. It's cute! Here's a video from a few weeks ago of Ainsley talking to Lily (who she still calls "baby" instead of "Lily"). Here's a video from the other day of Lily and Ainsley, who was a little jealous! Lily loves to watch Ainsley. Lily will sit on my lap or in her bouncer and watch her big sister.
I went back the other day to see what Ainsley weighed at 2 months and she was 10 pounds. I found the picture below that was taken at 2 months 1 day, so I took Lily's picture on Wednesday in the same outfit. The girls really do look alike! I sent the picture out and almost everyone could tell the difference between them. Some looked at the fraying of the headband, color of the shirt, etc. to figure it out. There were only two people that didn't get it right that actually admitted to it! One of them starts with a "J" and ends with a "L", or to the girls he would be called Daddy! Joel got home the other night and I showed it to him and asked who was who. He said: "Lily is the bottom, the one kicking her legs". Wrong!!! And, Rita admitted that she had it backwards too. What do you think? Do they look alike?!?

Top is Lily and bottom is Ainsley |
I went back to work last Friday. I'm still not ready to send Lily to Lisa's (I didn't send Ainsley until she was 4 months), so she stayed home with me while Ainsley went to Lisa's for the day. It was as if Lily knew I was going back to work and was boycotting. She wouldn't let me put her down Friday morning. I literally had to hold her almost the entire morning or else she'd cry.
