Polar Express

There were two lucky and excited little kids one Friday afternoon in early December named Ainsley and Rowdy.  Their Papa Mark was taking them to ride the Polar Express in Monticello.  Each year, they have the Polar Express in Monticello and it's very hard to get tickets, as they only have it for a few weekends and limited seating on the train.  Tickets go on sale June 1st at midnight and are usually sold out the next morning.  Elizabeth woke up in the middle of the night to get three tickets for Rowdy, herself, and her husband.  Sadly, Matt's Grandma passed away with visitation held the day that they had the tickets for the Polar Express.  Mark volunteered to take Rowdy, and also asked if Ainsley wanted to go.  Of course she did!

The Polar Express is based off of the movie, and each child in encouraged to wear their pajamas.   They get their ticket punched, take a trip to the North Pole, drink hot chocolate, and see Santa.  Everyone that I've talked to that has went says it's awesome.  I let Ainsley watch the movie the night before they went, since she'd never seen it before.  She was only interested for the first hour, but she loved the part where the waiters were dancing in the train aisle.

She woke up the next morning, rolled over and excitedly said:  "choo choo train, Rowdy, Papa Mark!"  I had one very excited little girl!  I was worried about Ainsley being terrible once Mark got up there with the kids, but Mark said she was an angel.  The only time she whined was when Santa came and sat down beside them.  She didn't want to get on Santa's lap!
They've got their tickets!!!

Rowdy wasn't scared of Santa!
Mark said it was so funny when the waiters came out and danced.  He said Ainsley was in the aisle with them dancing!  She really enjoyed that part of it.  According to Mark, everyone had a great time, including himself.  When Ainsley got home, she was excited to tell me all about it.  She showed me her ticket, bell, and bear she got.

I'm so glad she was able to go, and everyone had a good time.  Hopefully they are still doing it next year and I can get tickets.  I would love to see the sparkle and excitement on Ainsley's face when she gets on the train!

Since we only had one girl that evening, we decided to try to go out to eat.  Lily was so good, and even slept the whole time we ate.  She woke up right as we were finishing up, and loved looking around at all the people.  We don't get out much with the girls, because it seems like when we try, one of them is being terrible and it's just easier to stay home.  It was nice to have a somewhat relaxing meal out that I didn't have to cook!
