Sweet Summertime

Summer is always busy and these last few weeks have been no exception.

Joel and I were able to have a date night a few weekends ago.  He got free tickets to the Joe Nichols concert at the fair, so I dropped the girls off at Mom's for the night and we headed to the fair.  Free admission, food, and alcohol?  Sounds like a good night to me!

We got to the VIP section of the concert and were surprised to see a few people we knew.  I even saw Gracia Harrison from last season's "The Voice".  Joel was embarrassed when I went up and asked her for a picture with me, but he got over it.

Me and Kaila
Ainsley asked me to paint her fingernails one morning, and I just shrugged her off because she's never let me before.  That evening, I asked her if she wanted me to paint them and she said yes.  She actually sat still on the kitchen island and let me paint them.  She was so excited afterwards and kept looking down at them and had to run downstairs to show Joel.  I caught her looking at them throughout the night and the next day.  I've already re-painted them once since then.

Time flies when you're having fun, right?  This summer must be flying by for Ainsley because it seems like we do something every day.  We've played at the park...

Love these blue boards....I'll be going back to take more pictures of her on them!
Taken my car through the car wash, which she thought was pretty fun...

And, visited Daddy at work one day after getting ice cream at Placke's...

Ainsley was excited about going to Mimi's house.  She calls Minnie Mouse "Mimi" and didn't quite understand...
Jim and Joel have been busy moving dirt around in preparation for a new shed.  It's starting to look different.  Ainsley enjoyed running around with Daddy for a few minutes.

Ainsley thinks my phone belongs to her, and has even figured out how to take pictures.  She loves to take "selfies" and we took a few one day.  She's also managed to post a status on Facebook, "like" pictures on both Facebook and Instagram, send friend requests to a few people, and who knows what else!

Lily's over the "selfies"!
I caught Ainsley rubbing one of her baby's heads.  I guess she was looking for some hair!

I love turning the corner and seeing my girl looking at books in our bed.

We can't forget about Lily.  She's been busy sitting in her bumbo seat and talking with Daddy.

If you have a spare 10 minutes sometime and want to hear a good story about how I almost got arrested a few weekends ago, get in touch with me.  For now, I'll just let you know that you can be arrested for keeping three softballs, valued at $8 each that land in your yard for "intentially taking someone else's property".

3 months

Lily was 3 months old on Thursday.

Of course, she's growing way too fast.  She's not that little baby that we brought home from the hospital a few months ago.  She's a little chunk!  She's in size 2 diapers and 3-6 month clothes.  Some of the 3-6 month stuff is too small and she can get into some 6-9 month stuff already.
Check out her thighs!

She loves attention and to be talked to.  If you talk to her, she'll usually "talk" back and smile.  She also is IN LOVE with her big sister.  She'll watch Ainsley and if Ainsley is anywhere around, Lily will get a big smile on her face.

She's been taking right around 6 ounces at a time and is fed when she starts getting fussy, which is usually every 3-4 hours, but sometimes it's shorter.  Bedtime is getting better and she's been falling asleep around 10 and waking up between 5-7.  I can't remember the last time we actually had to get up in the middle of the night with her.  I really hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that, but it's been pretty nice to get a good 7 hours of sleep each night!

If she stays home with me, she'll usually wake up in the morning, take a bottle and fall asleep an hour later in her swing.  She'll then sleep all morning.  I'm talking about sleeping until noon some days.  Evenings are our worst time of the day, but we really can't complain much about them either.  She's a pretty good baby!

Her eyes are staying pretty grey, but I think they're going to be brown instead of blue like Ainsley's.  Lily's face is also more narrow and long compared to Ainsley round face!

I got her bumbo seat out a few weeks ago and she's doing good sitting up in it.  She likes to be able to watch us fix supper or Ainsley run around while sitting up.  Her little (or not so little) thighs are already getting stuck in the seat, but I know that will only continue to get worse in the months to come.

It seems like Lily isn't getting satisfied at night with her bottles because she constantly wants to eat, so I thought I'd try to give her some cereal the other night.  She wasn't a fan.  She wanted to talk to me instead of eat it, and I don't know if she even got any of it down.  I think I'll try again in a week or so to see if she's ready.

Ainsley colored Grandma Shelly's birthday card while watching Lily try to eat

If she doesn't have a bow, her hair is over her eyes and in her mouth.  Yuck!  I wish the little stinker would let me put it in a ponytail, but she absolutely refuses!

Summer fun

I can't believe it's already the middle of July. Ainsley says "Oh No, where is the summer going??"  She cracks me up.  Any time something goes wrong, she'll put both hands on her face and look at you and say "Oh no!"
I don't know what we've been doing for the past few months, but they've flown by.  It's probably because we've been taking care of a newborn and two year old, but it's crazy how fast this year is going.

My little chunky monkey

Check out her rolls!
I really need to work on getting a double stroller so I can take walks with both of the girls, but until I find one I like, I've been trying to take Ainsley out by herself after Joel gets home.  Ainsley also likes helping me push Lily in the stroller.  We'll only walk up our street, but she thinks she's big stuff!
Lily's wondering what she's strapped into!

Someone is getting too big for her car, but refuses to give it up.
Joel cleaned out the garage one day last week and Ainsley had lots of fun helping him.

Cleaning out the garage also meant having a car wash.  She got pretty good at it, and successfully washed all her cars without getting me or Lily wet!

Lily loves it outside and laid under the shade tree on a blanket for a few hours.  Every time she'd fall asleep, Ainsley would run over and wake her up.  That just meant she was good and tired that night for us!

We finally drug Ainsley's pool out of the shed last week and she was super excited.

I gave Ainsley a popsicle one evening after a walk and she liked it at first, but it quickly led to a meltdown.  She didn't want to hold it because it was cold!

Rita brought Drake over one evening and him and Ainsley had a dance party with Mickey.

Drake still likes Ainsley's Baby Alive doll.  I'm beginning to think it may be a good birthday present for him!

Little Mommy
One of these days, we'll be able to see a good fight between the two of them, but Drake doesn't get too mad at Ainsley yet.  Even when she bucks him off of the horse!
Lily watches Ainsley and just takes everything in.  It's not going to be long before she's right in the middle of all the fun, but until then she's content with sitting around being cute.

Her toes are always pointing straight up, just like Ainsley's!

I hope the rest of the summer slows down, but I know it's going to go just as fast if not faster than the last few months.
Looking at the Sunday ads with Mommy

I had to work late one night and Ainsley refused to go to bed.  She ended up falling asleep like this waiting for me to finish.

Time for a picnic

Finding Daddy's spare change is the best!

She loves her "Mickey cards".  Mommy, not so much.  They're constantly all over the house!

Singing in her "microphone"

Here, Mom...your turn.
