I've had this baby's name picked out before Ainsley was even born. I knew I wanted "Ainsley" and "Lillian" for little girl names, but didn't want to use both on Ainsley in case I had another girl one day. Now I'm glad we didn't use Lillian as a middle name for Ainsley, because there aren't many other girl names that we both like.
Baby girl Freeman #2's name is going to be Lillian Gracey. We'll call her Lily. We tossed around a few middle names, and I mentioned Gracey at one point, and Joel wasn't completely against it! Gracey was my Grandpa Gillespie's middle name. I knew Gracey came from his mother's maiden name, but that's really all I knew until I mentioned using Gracey as a middle name at either Thanksgiving or Christmas to my aunts. Once I said: "Lillian Gracey", they informed me that Grandpa's mother's first name was Lillian and her maiden name was Gracey, so her name was Lillian Gracey until she married Grandpa's father and become Lillian Gillespie. Who knew?! For those of you wondering how I didn't know what my great-grandma's name was....I never knew either of my Dad's grandparents. My Grandpa (Dad's Dad) was 74 when I was born. Ainsley has great-grandparents younger than 74!!!
I'm really behind on blogging, and have lots of things to update over the next week. My goal for the week is to get caught up. We'll see how that goes!
I had my doctor's appointment almost two weeks ago now. I had called and talked to the nurse the day before my appointment, because my left foot was really swollen. My feet have been swollen for a few months now (much like they were with Ainsley), but that particular day, it was only my left foot that was bad and it hurt to even walk on it. I decided to call the doctor since it was weird that it was just one side. The nurse told me to keep it elevated and if it wasn't better in the morning to call them and they'd work me in earlier in the day. She said that the baby was probably sitting on a nerve and blocking blood flow, and it wasn't completely uncommon for one foot to be swollen.
Ignore my feet that were in desperate need of a pedicure, but here's a picture of my feet. Notice how much bigger my left foot is than my right?!
The baby must have moved that evening, because the next morning, my feet were back to normal. As normal as they can be while I'm pregnant, I guess. They were both still swollen, but nothing like it was the day before. I ended up going in at my normal appointment time that day, since my foot wasn't swollen like it was the day before.
Before my appointment, I was able to swing by and see the cutest little triplets! My friend, Elisha, had her babies toward the end of January and had been home with them for a week or so. I walked in to find the three babies all propped up on their own boppy, sleeping in the middle of the living room floor. It was the cutest thing! Of course, Elisha is super-Mom (she has to be with triplets, right?!) She looks amazing, and I can only hope to be doing so well after having one baby in a few weeks!
I do have to say that I was caught a little off guard while I was there. I took one of the baby boys back to change his diaper before I left. I wasn't even thinking that I took one of the boys and not the baby girl. I took his diaper off, and quickly realized I needed to make it a fast diaper change! I didn't want him to pee on me!!! I'm not use to changing little boys diapers, and was afraid if I didn't make it fast, I would find myself (and him) covered in pee. I came home and told Joel that I freaked out a little, and he just laughed at me. We made it through the diaper change just fine, with no incidents!
After visiting and seeing the babies, I headed to my appointment. I was worried that my belly would still be measuring small. It had measured small the last two appointments, and Dr. Huston said I'd have a sonogram if it measured small at that appointment. Luckily, everything measured out right on track. I didn't need a sonogram, although, I would have loved to have seen our baby! The doctor said she must have been laying weird the last few appointments and finally moved.
He checked my blood pressure and protein and both were good, so he cleared me of preeclampsia. He said that my swollen foot must have been caused by the baby sitting on a nerve and blocking blood flow. I was always swollen when I was pregnant with Ainsley and they were always worried about preeclampsia then, but my blood pressure and protein levels always checked out. Hopefully they'll both stay good throughout the rest of this pregnancy, too.
I went to get a pedicure last week, and the lady that was doing it was laughing at my swollen ankles/feet. She kept pressing on my foot, and you'd be able to see her finger indention, and showing it to the lady working beside her. They both just laughed and shook their heads, as if saying how bad they felt for me. Yes, I have cankles and swollen feet. I'm so glad I was never pregnant through the summer months so I can actually hide them with jeans and socks/shoes!
The last two mornings when waking up, my hands have been terribly swollen. My fingers are so swollen when I wake up that I can barely make a fist, and when I do finally make a fist, it hurts. My hands/fingers were swollen with Ainsley toward the end of my pregnancy also. I'm thinking it could be the pregnancy carpal tunnel, but who knows for sure. The weird thing is, they're only swollen after I wake up. During the day, they're fine. I'm going to mention it to the doctor on Thursday when I go again and see what they think. I'm so glad I took my wedding ring off last month, because there's no way I would be able to get it off at this point.
I can't sleep at night, it's getting harder to walk without waddling, and I'm just plain uncomfortable. This pregnancy is definitely different than my pregnancy with Ainsley. I don't remember feeling this uncomfortable with Ainsley.
We got the baby furniture put together and the room painted last weekend. I really don't like the paint color, but there was no way I was going back into town to get another color. There is also no way that I will be painting the room again (at least not until after the baby comes). After I painted last Sunday, I didn't know if I would be able to move on Monday. I was so sore and exhausted.

Helping Daddy get the room ready to paint |
Ainsley enjoyed helping Daddy put the crib together, and has been very interested in Lily's room. She likes to go in there and look out the windows, climb on the crib, and loves it when I let her actually get in the crib.
I've been in super baby mode over the last few weeks. There was so much that needed to be done that I didn't know how in the world I would ever do it all. Let's just say I was freaking out. It wasn't pretty! I've noticed that I've become that pregnant lady that is crazy! Thankfully, Joel knew it was coming, although he says I've been the crazy pregnant lady this whole time!
My house was a disaster, and no matter what I did, it wasn't clean enough. I mopped the kitchen floor one afternoon, and Joel came home and got crumbs all over it from eating a poptart. Crazy pregnant lady came out! That same crazy pregnant lady came out the next day when I just had to get on my hands and knees and scrub the bathroom floor. That was also the same day that I decided the shower curtain needed washed. Nesting is in full swing at the Freeman house!
I've been getting Ainsley's old baby clothes out. Ainsley thinks she has to try on all the shoes, and some clothes. She also had to try out every pacifier and bottle nipple. Why did I wait so long to start going through the clothes, etc? It's exhausting! Ainsley has been watching/helping me go through everything, and will reply with "baby" boots, shoes, etc. when she holds it up. I'm trying my hardest to explain to her that a baby is coming, but I think she's going to be in for a huge shock when there actually is a baby in the house.
She managed to get these pajama pants (size 12 months) up to her knees and then wanted me to pull them up the rest of the way. She wasn't very happy when she realized she couldn't walk around in them because they were skin tight!!!
I was able to finally get all the clothes, blankets, etc. washed and put away over the weekend. It literally took me three full days to get through everything. The good thing about spoiling Ainsley when she was a baby (and maybe we still do a little now), is that there isn't much we need for Lily. I'm excited to put some of Ainsley's old outfits on Lily. It's also amazing how small some of the clothes are, and that we're going to have a little baby that fits in them. Joel pulled out one of the newborn diapers the other day, and just laughed. It's so hard to believe that at one time Ainsley was that little!
Everyone has been asking what we need for the baby, and I really didn't know for sure until I started going through all of Ainsley's old things. I have a list of most things we need, like a changing pad, bottle rack, etc. and I plan on getting them later this week. The only things I can say that we need for sure for Lily are: diapers, wipes, baby wash, and lotion. I know none of those things are "fun" to buy, but those are the things that we can't have too many of!
Oh, how dog gone sweet! Ainsley will be in shock when Lily really comes home!
