Squeak

I'm sure most of you already are aware of my liking of "squeaky" shoes.  I bought Ainsley's first pair of squeaky shoes as she was starting to walk.  There are various different brands out there, but they all serve the same purpose.  When the child puts weight on the heel on the foot, there is a little "squeaker" inside the shoe that makes the shoe squeak.  The shoes are suppose to encourage kids to walk heel to toe.

Yes, the shoes can be very annoying at times, because every step the child makes, you get to hear a wonderful "squeak".  I'm sure they're still annoying to most people who aren't around them 24/7, but we've gotten used to them, and I have to say they're pretty nice.  We know exactly where Ainsley is at all times.  All we have to do is listen for the "squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak".  When we first got Ainsley a pair, she loved them and would run around just so she could hear the squeak.  If we put a pair of shoes on her that didn't squeak, she'd get confused and stomp her feet trying to figure out why they weren't squeaking!

Anyway-the point of this entry is to compliment Wee Squeak, which is the brand of squeaky shoes we get for Ainsley.  I've bought one other pair of squeaky shoes from a different company, and didn't like them as much as our Wee Squeak shoes.  Wee Squeak has their own website where you can purchase the shoes, and they even have clearance and sales on there!  You can also purchase the Wee Squeak brand on Target's website and I've bought a few pair from The Grapevine in Alton.  (Yes, Ainsley's had a few pair of these shoes over the last year or so).

I've loved everything about the shoes.  The shoes are made of quality leather, they're a little wider, which helps with Ainsley's wide feet, and they have a velcro strap that makes getting them on and off a breeze.  Ainsley's now had every color of the Wee Squeak "Daisy" line of shoes, and we're on the light pink pair now.  I haven't had any problems with any of the Wee Squeak shoes before this last pair.  I noticed a few weeks ago that the sole of the shoe was starting to come detached from the actual shoe.  I really didn't think any more about it and Ainsley's been wearing them everyday.  Thursday, we played outside for a little bit, and when we came back inside, I noticed one of the soles by the toe was almost completely detached from the shoe.

I decided to call Wee Squeak (it was almost 5 pm at this point) to see if they would do anything.  We've only had these shoes for a few months.  The girl that answered was very nice and helpful.  She just asked that I email a picture of the shoe with the size and she's send me a replacement pair.  Really?  It's that simple?!  So, I immediately took a picture and emailed it in.  I got a reply back within 5 minutes letting me know they'd ship me a new pair the next day.

Guess what came in the mail on Monday?  Ainsley's new pair of Wee Squeak shoes!  I called them Thursday at 5 pm, they shipped them on Friday, and I received them on Monday!  I am beyond impressed with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone.  They've earned my continued business!

***For the record, you can take the squeaker out of the shoes if you want.  We've done this a few times when we're going out in public and we don't want Ainsley's shoes to be an annoyance to others.

It's really the little things in life that make me happy...like getting a replacement pair of shoes for Ainsley.  A little thing made me a very proud Mommy earlier today.  Ainsley and I were getting ready to leave and I put her shoes (old pair) on the floor and asked her to put her shoes on.  I only did it so she'd stay occupied while I filled her sippy cup, made sure there were diapers in the diaper bag, etc.  I never thought she would really put them on.  She stood up and looked at me a few seconds after I gave her the shoes and low and behold, she'd put them on herself!  I couldn't have been prouder!  When did my little girl figure out how to put her own shoes on and Velcro them?!

Now, that's not saying she put them on the right feet or anything....but I let her wear them on the wrong feet to Grandma Shelly's because I was too proud of her for putting them on by herself to take them off and put them on the right feet!
Ainsley in her Wee Squeak shoes! (on the wrong feet!!!)
