Telling Ainsley to be quiet, or saying "Shhh" is a huge mistake. If Ainsley hears that she needs to be quiet, she immediately has to start screaming, or talking louder. She screamed all through Walmart the other night because I tried to get her to be quiet. I finally had to let her scream, because telling her "shhhhh" made it even worse. I was on the phone the other night, and that's another time Ainsley decides she needs to be loud. Joel caught it on video. You'll also be able to tell me "No" a few times. Imagine that!
Last weekend, Ainsley was running up and down the hallway in the basement and fell. Somehow, she cut one of her toes and it bled a little. I had wet a washcloth to stop the bleeding (it really wasn't that bad), and every time I would touch Ainsley with the washcloth, she'd cry harder. You would have thought she'd lost a toe the way she was crying. I went in to finish folding laundry and Joel kept her on his lap while she cried. He hollered in to me and said she was holding the wrong foot crying! My daughter is quite the drama queen! Here's a video of her crying and saying "Owww, it hurts".
Ainsley and I met Joel and Jim for lunch one day last week. Instead of going to Placke's, we decided to change it up a little and headed to Naples to Evandy's. It was a nice change of scenery. Ainsley loved watching the birds on the water, and then a barge finally went by and she was able to see a "big boat!"
I still haven't got all the bottles and pacifiers upstairs to wash, so Ainsley's been playing with them in the basement. She took a bottle over to the recliner one afternoon to give her baby doll a bottle, and when I looked in at her, she had fallen asleep while cuddling with her baby doll. She sure loves to cuddle!!!
I got a phone call that made my week Friday afternoon. Mom called to check Ainsley's social calendar to see if she had anything on the books for that evening. Mom was on her way to Jacksonville and wanted to take Ainsley home with her to stay the night. Of course, I jumped on the offer! An entire night of sleeping in our bed without Ainsley in between us?! An evening where we could enjoy a night out?! Heck, yeah!
Ainsley was at Lisa's that day, so I went to pick her up that afternoon. Every time I pick Ainsley up from Lisa's, she has to run to the bouncy horse and get on it for one last ride before we leave. She also fights me, and usually doesn't want to leave. When I picked her up, I was able to tell her Grandma Shelly was coming to see her and she'd be able to go see her puppies. That made her happy and she was ready to go! The whole way home, she sat in the back saying "Grandma, woof woof". She wasn't very happy when she realized we had pulled into our garage instead of arriving at Grandma's house. I told her we had to pack her bag so she could stay the night at Grandma's and we ran into the house to get busy packing a bag. Mom showed up a few minutes later, and Ainsley was very excited! She had to show her Lily's room, and looked at me and told me "bye-bye" and was ready to go with Grandma!
Joel and I had a relaxing evening without Ainsley. We ended up going to Lonzerotti's for supper and then stopping by Dairy Queen for blizzards on the way home. Dairy Queen was Joel's request, by the way...not mine! We were back home and in bed by 8 and asleep by 8:30. We're party animals, I tell you! It was just nice to be able to enjoy a few hours alone, even though we both made the comment that we missed Ainsley terribly!
I'm sure Ainsley had a good time at Grandma's. When I picked her up yesterday afternoon, she screamed and cried for Grandma as I was pulling away. She didn't stop the entire way home! The only thing that would calm her down was me reaching a hand back and rubbing her leg, and that would just make her sob instead of cry. Poor girl!
