House project

The cedar siding on our house is in rough shape, so we're replacing it with vinyl siding.  Of course, like most projects, it's turned into something much bigger than originally planned.  The outside of our house is pretty much going to be like a brand new house by the time we're done with it.

The guys came a few days last week and this week to start tearing the cedar siding off and pulling the soffit off (which was put on after the siding, requiring it to come off before the siding).  We have to put plywood up before putting the new siding on, because there wasn't anything under the cedar siding except a few boards every few feet so they could nail the cedar siding onto the house.  Once the new plywood goes up, they have to wrap the house.  They've got the old siding pulled off and plywood and house wrap up on the front and one side of the house.
Alvin found a tree frog in one of the porch posts last week.  See it up on the gutter????

This side will be done tomorrow....

One side done!!!!
We have to put new soffit on both ends of the house because the old won't be the right size to go back on once they put the new plywood up.  They have to put new vents in for the attic, and patch a few places on the roof overhang also.  The columns on the front porch also have to be replaced.

The guys working on the house couldn't believe everything they found after they started working on it that need fixed.  I picked out a siding color a few weeks ago, and ordered the columns for the porch in the same color.  I'm really hoping it all matches with the windows, soffit, gutters, brick, etc.  I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Ainsley is enjoying having Alvin and Larry here working on the house and likes to watch them out the window and front door.  She's also very interested in all the tools and materials in our garage and outside.
