Snow Day

We got quite a bit of snow at the end of last week (about 5-6 inches), and Ainsley loved to watch it out the window.  She was scheduled to go to Lisa's the next day, but we were suppose to get more snow throughout the night, so I kept her at home with me.  The snow was iced over the next morning when we woke up, but as soon as I asked Ainsley if she wanted to go outside and play in it, there was no turning back!  She loves playing outside!

She usually won't let us put gloves or mittens on her, so I was a little worried that we'd have a fight getting dressed, but she didn't fight me at all.  She was more than happy to put on two pairs of socks, her snow pants, coat, hat, mittens, and boots.

It was so funny to watch her.  She didn't know what to think of it at first, and wouldn't even try to walk in it without holding my hand.  When she did finally get out in it, she couldn't walk by herself because of the ice that was over the top.  She kept getting "stuck" and I'd have to go rescue her!  Here's a video of her getting mad because she couldn't walk.

This is how she ended up after almost every step

Finally trying to pick some snow up and throw it!

Come help me, Mommy!
She didn't understand why we couldn't take her toys out of the garage and play with them.  She wanted the little slide out, her cars, etc.  I finally gave her a bucket and shovel and that seemed to satisfy her.  She plopped her butt right down in the driveway (not sitting in the snow, of course!) and tried scooping the snow.  It didn't last long, because she couldn't really scoop any with her mittens on.

I finally got her to go around to the side of the house, where there wasn't as much snow.  She was able to walk around in it by herself and it was out of the wind, so it really wasn't too bad!  We stayed out for close to an hour before I'd had enough and was ready to go back in.  Of course, Ainsley fought me then because she DID NOT want to go inside.  Her little cheeks were getting red and her nose was starting to run at this point.  I even tried bribing her with milk, Mickey Mouse, candy, a sucker, etc. to no avail.  She didn't care about any of it.  She wanted to stay outside!  I was finally able to convince her to go back inside.  I was so proud of my little girl as she stood still for me while I undressed her and didn't cry once.  The only part of her body that was cold when we got back in was her cheeks, so I'm sure she was cozy and warm in all of her winter gear.

That's her:  "No, I DO NOT want to back inside" face

I'm hoping this next snow (which we're scheduled to get tomorrow) doesn't have get a layer of ice over it, and Ainsley will be able to get out and play in it a little better.
