Did I mention terrible twos??? Well, one day last week, Joel came home early for the day. He was in the living room, and I was working in my office. Ainsley's been obsessed with brushing her teeth for awhile now, and will go into the bathroom any chance she gets to get her toothbrush. I heard her run into the bathroom, and I yelled out: "What is she doing?" Joel's response back was "Probably up to no good", but neither one of us actually got up to see. We knew she was in the bathroom. I could hear her take a few steps, and then run out of the bathroom. I assumed she was running into the living room to show Joel something, and then I'd hear her run back into the bathroom. She did this four or five times, which really isn't that unusual. Sometimes, she'll run into the bathroom and pretend like she's washing her hands, but I was almost to the point of getting up and seeing what she was actually up to. About the fifth time of her running in and back out of the bathroom, I heard her run in, then it was quiet for a few seconds and then heard her little feet start running and she took two or three steps before a huge thud and a scream. She immediately started crying, while screaming. I jumped out of my chair and ran into the bathroom to see what she had done. Once I turned the corner and could see her laying on the floor, in between the toilet and the bathtub, and no blood in sight, I immediately yelled out "AINSLEY ROSE!!!" I knew exactly what she'd been doing at that point. The little stinker had been playing in the toilet water!!! There was water all over the floor (and toilet seat) and when she took off to run out of the bathroom the last time, she slipped in all the water that was on the floor from the toilet and fell.
She was soaked. I was disgusted. Joel thought it was hilarious.
At least it was clean toilet water (as clean as it can be, I guess). She was immediately stripped down and put in the bathtub, where she could play in as much water as she wanted.
She's also learned to climb.....on everything. It started out a few weeks ago when she pushed her Mickey car into our bedroom one night. She pushed it right up against the side of the bed, stepped on the seat of it, and then hoisted herself onto our bed. Last week, it was a laundry basket that she pushed into the bedroom and used as her step. She's like a little monkey. All she needs is something to grab onto, and she'll hoist herself up. I was downstairs a few days ago, and watched her step on the side rail of the bed down there and up onto the bed. She thought she was big stuff once she got up there. Last night, she figured out how to do the same thing on our bed upstairs.
What a face! |
She thought it was hilarious to jump and bounce on the bed! |
We've been working on counting, and she'll "count" on her own every once in awhile. Of course, you can't understand the numbers, but she is counting in her own language! Here's a video of her counting the coins in her piggy bank from the other morning.
Her favorite phrase is "I stuck". She knows when to use it, too! Joel and I will be busy doing something and we'll hear Ainsley yell out "I stuck" only to find her leg wedged into the couch cushion or something. The other morning, she was mad because she was stuck in her high chair when she wanted to get out! Here's a video of her letting me know she was stuck.
In case you're still thinking that our sweet, precious, little girl can do no wrong...check out what she did to my office the other night while I was trying to finish payroll. Sometimes, I just have to let her be so I can get some work done. Working from home does have some downfalls, as you can clearly see below!
