From skinny to.....beached whale!!!

I had my "monthly" appointment this morning with Dr. Huston.  I hadn't been since Nov. 21st, and you're suppose to go every four weeks.  I was scheduled to see the doctor on the Friday before Christmas, the same day as our sonogram, but they didn't have me on the schedule and the doctor wasn't even in the office that day.  I had to reschedule my appointment for this morning, so I actually went over 6 weeks between appointments.  My blood pressure and baby's heartbeat was all good.  The only **small** problem was with my weight gain.  Oops!

Please keep in mind that my last weigh in was before Thanksgiving, so Thanksgiving, our trip to Dallas, Christmas, and New Year's was all a result of my weight gain.  I gained 13 pounds from my last appointment.  YIKES!!!  So much for my doctor calling me "skinny"...

He told me he wasn't too worried about my weight gain, because it had been over 6 weeks and I hit all the holidays in those weeks.  He said the girl before me only went 4 weeks in between appointments and gained 14 pounds!  The only thing he said was that I should maybe watch my portion sizes a little.  He emphasized little and just kind of grinned.  I'm so glad he's not one of those doctor's that really makes you feel like a loser when you have a 13 pound weight gain!

I'm sure the puppy chow, homemade caramels, chocolate covered popcorn, Cheesecake Factory, and everything else I consumed didn't have anything to do with my weight gain.  My total weight gain so far for this pregnancy is at 19 pounds.  I still don't think I'll gain as much as I did with Ainsley, but if I keep going at this rate, I may get pretty close.

I have my glucose test at my next appointment, and another sonogram scheduled in six weeks to check my placenta.  I'm sure I'll get nervous about the glucose test the closer I get to it.  I failed the first one with Ainsley and had to sit through the 3 hour one.  That wasn't fun!

I'm still trying to get over whatever it is that I have.  I went to prompt care yesterday and the doctor said my throat was red, so he ran a strep test on me, but it was negative.  My throat doesn't hurt that much.  I'm congested, exhausted, can't sleep, and have headaches.  I think I'm starting to get better, but I wish I could feel normal again.

Ainsley's almost done with her antibiotic for her strep throat, and I think she's pretty much back to normal at this point.
