Why does it seem like every week someone is sick? And, it's usually Ainsley. Two weeks ago, Ainsley had strep throat. Last week, I felt like crap (and Joel did a couple of days). Last night it was Ainsley again.
Ainsley's been coughing since Sunday. We gave her the last dose of her antibiotic for her strep on Sunday. She went to Lisa's on Monday, and then yesterday she didn't feel good. Her poor eyes said it all. Her nose was like a water faucet that didn't shut off, and she coughed quite a bit. She fell asleep a little before 8 last night (in our bed) and at 8:15, I rolled over to fall asleep. I even made the comment to Joel that it was pretty bad that she was asleep before 8 and I was going to be asleep by 8:30. Not even two minutes after I said that, Ainsley started coughing. We tried to roll her over to her belly to see if that would help the drainage and her cough. As we did, we could tell it was coming. Vomit. All over our bed...well, more like all over where Joel's pillow was a few seconds before he jumped out of bed and threw his pillow on the floor in preparation for the vomit.
Of course, Ainsley couldn't stop coughing, which led to more throwing up. Joel had grabbed a towel from the bathroom, so we were able to get most of it in the towel. Vomit and I don't mix. Especially when I'm pregnant and have a very strong sense of smell. I immediately started gagging and had to run out of the room. By the time I got myself together and could hold my breath for a few seconds, I went back in and she had thrown up everything she had in her poor belly and was dry heaving. I'm glad Joel was able to hold it together and hold Ainsley for me.
I know that she continued to throw up because she was scared, but I think she threw up first because of the drainage. If she lays on her back, she starts coughing and that's usually when it happens. I finally got her calmed down and into the living room to rock her. We got the sheets changed, towels cleaned up, and Ainsley wiped down and back in bed. We didn't think she actually had the flu, but threw up because of the drainage. To be on the safe side, I decided to go ahead and run into town and get some Pedialyte just in case we were up all night. What happened to being asleep by 8:30??? I threw on some clothes and ran into town. By the time I got home, Ainsley was back asleep and I was more than ready for bed. Of course, we let her sleep in our bed last night because I was worried she'd throw up in the middle of the night and we wouldn't hear her. Ainsley sleeping in our bed led to no sleep for Mommy or Daddy. The things we do for our kids!!!
She doesn't act like she feels all that great today, but she hasn't thrown up. I'm just wondering when we're going to catch a break and have a few months where everyone is healthy.
Below are some pictures from the past week. She loves her new puzzles she got from Santa, and she's gotten really good at putting them together.
She's also taken an interest in the mega blocks and likes to play with them.
Jim and Rita got Ainsley a step stool for Christmas, and at first she was too scared to go to the second step. My daughter...scared?! No way! It didnt' take her long, though to get over it and push the step stool all around and climb right up on it. She thinks she's pretty big stuff to climb up and see what's on the island.
So sorry to hear of the sickness again! Try letting her sleep propped up or in her carseat so she drains if it is still a problem. Try to stay well!
